GSIS CHRISTMAS CASH GIFT – Here is a guide on who are entitled to the pensioners’ cash gift from the Government Service Insurance System.

Not only the working employees await some extra money every December. The retired members of some government agencies like the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) also receive an amount on top of their monthly pension.

Most pensioners of the GSIS said they are using the cash gift for foods and gifts during the holiday season, for their maintenance medicines, and to help financially in the household spendings. Every December, millions are alloted by the social insurance agency for the cash gifts to the pensioners.

Who are entitled to receive the GSIS Christmas Cash Gift?

  • old-age pensioners who are living as of November 30, 2021
  • disability pensioners who are living as of November 30, 2021
  • retirees under the Republic Act (R.A.) No. 8291 or the GSIS Act of 1997
  • retirees under the Presidential Decree No. 1146
  • retirees under the Republic Act (R.A.) 660 or Magic 87

Based on a report in Manila Bulletin, GSIS retirees and pensioners who are on a suspended status because of non-compliance with the Annual Pensioners Information Revalidation are entitled to receive the GSIS Pensioners Cash Gift provided they activate their status on or before April 30, 2022.

According to GSIS, survivorship pensioners, dependent pensioners under the Republic Act 7699 or the Portability Law, and those who are receiving pro-rata pension are not entitled to receive the cash gift. With regards to the new retirees from 2017 to 2021 who availed of immediate pension under the Republic Act 8291 will get their first yearly cash gift during December years after they were granted the retirement benefit.

Furthermore, the retirees under the five-year sum will receive a Christmas cash gift after the five-year guaranteed period. With regards to GSIS members who were separated from their employment from 2006 to 2021 before they reached 60 years old and whose monthly pension started between 2017 and 2021 will be entitled to the cash gift once they became regular pensioners for at least five (5) years.
