Update on Pork Meat Price & Chicken Costs in Wet Markets
PORK MEAT PRICE – The cost of pork dropped but the price of chicken remains high despite the sufficient supply.
In most households, families allot a certain schedule at least once a week to buy the refill for the kitchen stocks. Aside from buying groceries in grocery stores, many people also take the time to buy meat in wet markets. A lot of individuals prefer meat sold in wet markets because they usually have lesser prices compared to the ones sold in grocery stores in shopping malls.
Also, many people purchase meat in wet markets along with buying vegetables, fruits, and kitchen condiments. There are also individuals who are not into frozen meat so they turn to wet markets for fresh ones.
However, nowadays, there are households whose budgets are tight following the increase in the prices of several basic needs and commodities. These are apart from the high costs of fuel in the Philippines now that affected a lot of people.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the pork meat price reduced while the costs of chicken remain high despite sufficient supply. In Marikina Public Market, one whole chicken is sold at P195 each. Previously, it was only at P160.
According to vendors, there is no insufficiency in the supply of chicken amid the high prices. The choice cut is now at P201 per kilo from the previous price of P180 per kilo.
With regards to the pork meat price, from its previous cost of P320, it is now at P300. The spare ribs is only at P320 now from a price range of P340 to P349 in the last few days. The pork vendors express that it has been three days now that the price of pork is low.
