Telco Providers Give Clients New Privilege under “Mobile Number Portability”
TELCO PROVIDERS – Smart, DITO, and Globe users now have a bigger choice under the “mobile number portability” pushed by the three (3) telecommunication providers.
Different countries have different telecommunication providers. Truths be told that these are among the most progressive companies across the globe now considering the needs of the people now. The advancement in technology has come a long way and its success always requires the services of telecommunication firms.
In the Philippines, the biggest telco providers are Smart, Globe, and the recently-added firm on the list, DITO Telecommunity. Businesses in Davao and China are the ones behind DITO which is currently on the process of continuously expanding the coverage of its services.
Considering that they are in the same field, the three (3) giants are each other’s rival. But, despite it, they can work together in some cases for the benefit of the people.
In fact, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Smart, DITO, and Globe agreed to work together for “mobile number portability”. Under it, a telco user may transfer to another telco company without changing his or her mobile number or digits. The telco providers built a different company for it.
According to TCI General Manager Melanie Manuel, the gain is for the Filipino telco users as it gives them the freedom to choose their network. Based on the report, a user may also transfer from prepaid to postpaid or vice versa or retain prepaid to prepaid or post paid to post paid.
With regards to postpaid telco users who want to transfer to another telco firm, Globe vice president for production innovation and capability Patrick Lim expressed that the user must finish his or her contract and liabilities first to his or her current telco firm before transferring.
Starting September 30, telco users who wants to transfer to another telco company will have the option to retain his or her phone number. It is beneficial most especially to those who use mobile services at work. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic now, many people are doing transactions through online.
