Update on Carrots Prices in Public Markets now amid Low Demand
CARROTS PRICES – The price of per kilo of carrots is seen with a huge drop in several public markets according to the Department of Agriculture (DA).
While other people find it convenient to buy vegetables and fruits in grocery stores and malls’ grocery departments along with shopping for their grocery needs, there are still a lot of Filipinos who prefer to get their veggies and fruits from wet markets. It is mainly because veggies and fruits sold in wet markets may come with cheaper prices compared with those sold in grocery departments in shopping malls.
In fact, there are really people most especially mothers who allot a certain part of the day in a week to buying fish, pork, chicken, vegetables, fruits, herbs, and other needs in the kitchen at a wet market. Most people do it in time with the so-called “Market Day”.
Individuals who frequently go to wet markets notice when there are price increases or rollbacks in certain products. There are also departments that monitor these prices – like the Department of Agriculture.
More commonly called DA, the agriculture department recently noticed a decrease in carrots prices in several wet markets in Metro Manila. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the huge decrease in the prices ranges between Php 20.00 to Php 30.00.
According to the report, the carrots prices per kilo last week start from Php 100.00. Currently, the vegetable is old between Php 70.00 to Php 80.00 per kilo in several wet markets in Metro Manila. Here’s a guide on the prices in these wet markets as to the agriculture department:

- Pritil Market – P80.00 per kilo
- Pasay City Market – P70.00 to P80.00 per kilo
- Commonwealth Market – P80.00 per kilo

- Malabon Central Market – P60.00 to P80.00 per kilo
