Details about the Oil Price Rollback Set Tomorrow, July 26
OIL PRICE ROLLBACK – Several fuel companies confirmed that there will be a rollback in the prices of diesel, gasoline, and kerosene on July 26.
Beginning January 2022, many Filipinos are financially struggling as they try to cope with the high prices of oil in the country. According to the authorities in the oil industry, the increase in the prices has something to do with the ongoing tension between Ukraine and Russia which is believed to be a factor in the global oil problem.
The increases in the oil products led the prices of diesel and gasoline to go past P90 per liter in some fuel stations in the previous week. Many public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers called for financial assistance from the government amid the high oil prices.
Several transport groups and professionals also called for the suspension of the fuel excise tax. However, both the previous and the current administrations are not in favor of the suspension of the fuel excise tax.
According to Malacañang during the Duterte administration, the funds from the fuel excise tax are already allotted for government projects. Pres. Bongbong Marcos also prefers ayuda for the poor Filipinos over the suspension of the fuel excise tax.
Meanwhile, recently, there were two previous big rollbacks that helped pull the prices of diesel, gasoline, and kerosene. Recently, fuel companies confirmed that there will be another oil price rollback set on July 26, 2022.
