Fuel Companies Confirm Oil Price Hike for Gasoline, Rollback for Diesel & Kerosene
OIL PRICE HIKE – Oil companies are set to increase the cost of gasoline and decrease the prices of diesel and kerosene on August 2, 2022.
Among the price adjustments that affect a lot of people are the changes in the costs of oil products like gasoline, diesel, and kerosene. These are used in daily transportation and as well as the operation of several businesses across the globe.
However, currently, there is a global oil problem which is believed to be triggered by the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. In the Philippines, the series of oil price hikes that started in January led the costs of diesel and kerosene to go past P90 per liter in the previous week.
Public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and transport groups called for help from the government amid the high costs of oil products in the country. Many people also called on the government to suspend the fuel excise tax.
However, the Duterte administration rejected the call explaining that the funds are already intended for the projects of the government. Pres. Bongbong Marcos who has yet to assume office then also expressed his preference of releasing ayuda to the most affected individuals than suspending the fuel excise tax.
Meanwhile, the recent rollbacks on fuel prices have greatly helped many people. There is another upcoming price decrease on diesel and kerosene. However, an oil price hike is set for gasoline.
