In the Philippines, the DSWD or the Department of Social Welfare and Development is one of the government agencies that have a clear assistance for solo parents. It wants to helps ease the burden of solo parents who have to stand as both father and mother to their children.

- declaration of nullity of marriage
- woman whose pregnancy is not intended
- unmarried father or mother who chose to raise their child independently without entering marriage
- any member of the family who assumed the role as the head of the family after the parents or single parents vanished
- any person who provides parental care to a child/children
It is important to apply for the DSWD Solo Parent ID to qualify for the DSWD Cash Assistance for solo parents. Under the cash assistance, there is not only a monetary assistance that will be given monthly but as well as eligibility to the other programs like the Solo Parent Food Assistance Program and the Solo Parent Housing Assistance Program.
