Update on DSWD Cash Aid Releasing for Poor Pinoys
DSWD – The Department of Social Welfare and Development spoke on the additional P500 cash aid for poor Filipinos.
Currently, several Filipino households are facing financial struggles amid the high costs of basic goods and commodities and oil products in the country. Truth be told that many have yet to recover financially from the impacts of the pandemic and the prices of a lot of goods continue to take an upward trend.
Many families find it more challenging to put food on the table now. According to some public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers, they can hardly bring home an amount that could provide for the needs of their families because of the high prices of fuel now.
The oil price hike started in January 2022. There were series of increases with rollbacks that can hardly be felt. The oil price hikes led the prices of gasoline and diesel to go beyond P90 per liter.
Amid the financial struggles of several households now, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) expressed its target to release the P500 cash aid for poor Filipinos soon. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the social welfare department wants the releasing to take place before the end of the term of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on June 30, 2022.
Pres. Duterte will be stepping down as the country’s chief executive after six years of leading the nation. The P500 cash aid to be released by the DSWD is a “targeted cash transfer” to be given to poor Filipinos. Based on the report, Social Welfare spokesperson Director Irene Dumlao said that the cash aid will benefit 12.4 million households.
Out of the total number of households that are set to receive the cash aid are around four (4) million beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), around 6 million non-4Ps households and individual beneficiaries of the conditional cash transfer, and the 2.4 million beneficiaries who are part of the database list. The DSWD assured that the release of the cash aid would be organized.
