Labor Partylist TUCP Speaks on Minimum Wage Call to Pres. Marcos
LABOR PARTYLIST – The TUCP partylist is urging President Bongbong Marcos to increase the minimum wage in the country.
Many Filipinos are financially struggling now amid the high prices of basic goods and commodities in the country. Some of them have low salaries and they are the breadwinners of a family with more than three (3) members. In fact, some of them are feeding a five-member family daily with the little they earn.
The prices of rice, sugar, flour, and a lot more products have greatly increased. Even eggs and meat prices took an upward trend and are now challenging the monthly budget of several households.
Amid the financial challenges faced by a lot of Pinoys now, labor partylist TUCP is urging Pres. Bongbong Marcos to increase the minimum wage in the country.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the TUCP partylist is calling Pres. Bongbong Marcos to increase the minimum wage by P37 to P570. Labor partylist representative Raymond Mendoza said that they like to meet with the President and the other stakeholders.
According to Mendoza, the minimum wage should be on top of the poverty threshold of P16,000 for a family with five members to survive. He wants to sit down and talk with the President and the other stakeholders to come up with a roadmap that will lead the minimum wage to go above the poverty threshold. He stressed that the roadmap must be “timebound”.
The representative of the labor partylist said that he was happy with the 1st State of the Nation Address (SONA) of the President but he hopes that he has mentioned the endo bill and the salaries. Meanwhile, he stressed that he’s “happy” when it comes to the overall of the SONA.
