Basis of DSWD in Delisting Some Beneficiaries of 4Ps
DSWD – The Department of Social Welfare and Development cited the major criteria in delisting some of the 4Ps beneficiaries.
Last June 30, the term of a new administration began in the Philippines. The Cabinet secretaries have also sworn to their duties within the week. President Bongbong Marcos appointed veteran broadcaster Erwin Tulfo to head the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Prior to his oath-taking, Tulfo expressed his desire to push for the increase of the monthly pension of senior citizens in the country. He stressed that his desire is in line with the belief that the seniors need a bigger amount for their maintenance medicines and other needs.
Upon assuming his post as the DSWD Secretary, Tulfo ordered the review of the beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or more commonly known as 4Ps. There are around 4 million beneficiaries of the said program.
4Ps is one of the programs of the government that are in line with poverty reduction in the country. It aims to boost social development by breaking the cycle of poverty across generations and providing social assistance in the form of cash aid to address the short-term needs of the beneficiaries.
Recently, DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo revealed that around 1 million beneficiaries of 4Ps may be delisted. He wants to make sure that the cash assistance really goes to deserving individuals who are in need of help. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the following are the basis for delisting beneficiaries from the program:
- Non-compliance with the conditions set under 4Ps. You may visit – LIST: 4Ps Major Conditions for Beneficiaries.
- When families or 4Ps beneficiaries have achieved financial independence.
According to Tulfo, the ongoing review of the 4Ps beneficiaries may take 3-4 weeks. He also reportedly warned beneficiaries who are not cooperating with the program of delisting.
