DSWD Cash Aid To Be Extended To Typhoon “Crising” Victims aside from Food Packs

Social Welfare Dept. Confirms DSWD Cash Aid for “Crising” Victims

DSWD CASH AID – The Department of Social Welfare and Development will extend financial assistance to the victims of Typhoon Crising.

The Philippines is usually struck by a typhoon at least once a month during the rainy season. These storms cause flooding in several areas around the country most especially if there is a continuous heavy downpour. There were instances when the typhoon left both casualties and damages to properties.

With the country being prone to storms, it is really an edge to be a member of the Government Service Insurance System which offers the GSIS Emergency Loan or the Social Security System which has the SSS Calamity Loan. If you are not a member of any of the social insurance giant, there is also the Pag-IBIG Fund that offers the Pag-IBIG Fund Calamity Loan for its members.

However, truth be told that many Filipinos are not members of the GSIS, SSS, and the Pag-IBIG Fund. Not everyone has the leeway to make the monthly premiums to the state entities part of their monthly budget to keep an active account.

Meanwhile, in times of natural disasters, there is also the Department of Social Welfare and Development or more popularly called DSWD that is ready to extend assistance to the victims. It is already widely-known to the public that the social welfare department provides relief goods and food packs to the flood victims.

DSWD Cash Aid

Recently, the social welfare department announced that some Typhoon “Crising” victims may receive not only food packs but as well as DSWD cash assistance. It was announced by social welfare department Secretary Rex Gatchalian.

According to Gatchalian, the department is ready to extend the DSWD cash assistance for Filipino families affected by the combined effects of the Southwest Monsoon and Typhoon “Crising”. Based on a post on the DSWD’s official website, it is in line with the call of Pres. Bongbong Marcos to provide for the needs of the Filipino families which cannot be found inside the food packs being distributed.

“Lagi rin sinasabi ng Pangulo, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., hindi lahat ng pangangailangan ng isang pamilya ay matatagpuan mo doon sa kahon na yun. Kasi [may iba pang pangangailangan] may gamot, may gatas, iba-iba,” Gatchalian said.

Social welfare Sec. Rex Gatchalian said the DSWD cash aid will be given to Filipino families whose home and source of living were damaged by the combined forces of the Southwest Monsoon and the typhoon. Based on the post, he assured that the department is ready to help the Filipinos every day the whole year as they do not only monitor typhoons but as well as other situations like fire and earthquake.

Aside from the cash assistance that the social welfare department may distribute to the victims of the Typhoon “Crising”, it also got several offers including the DSWD Educational Cash Aid offer for underprivileged but deserving students.
