PhilHealth COVID-19 Package Coverage Widens
PHILHEALTH COVID-19 PACKAGE – The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) announced that this package now includes patients isolated at home.
The Filipinos are currently living under a “new normal” setting. The students get their lessons through blended learning, many companies considered a work-from-home setup, businesses have to abide by certain restrictions, travel bans are implemented, and a lot more. It is all because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Unfortunately, the total COVID-19 cases recorded in the country continue to increase daily. New variants of the virus were also detected including the Delta variant, a variant of interest because of its higher transmissibility rate.
The COVID-19 cases vary. There are those that are severe and need treatment in hospitals while there are those mild and asymptomatic cases that are usually advised to be under a home quarantine or isolation.
Recently, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation announced that the PhilHealth COVID-19 Package now includes patients who are isolated at home. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the patient must be a resident of an area considered as high risk for coronavirus.
Furthermore, the health insurance agency will assess the social and clinical qualifications of the patient for the PhilHealth COVID-19 Package or the COVID-19 Home Isolation Benefit Package (CHIBP).
PhilHealth released a circular regarding the widening of the coverage of its package. Based on the report, the document dated August 17 was signed by PhilHealth President and CEO Dante Gierran.
With regards to the health facilities’ renewal of accreditation for CHIBP, according to PhilHealth, only those accredited facilities in high-risk areas will be allowed to renew their accreditation until December 2021. The following are the requirements that must be submitted:
- Completely-filled out CHIBP Assessment Tool and letter of intent
- Signed Performance Commitment as CHIBP provider
- Service Delivery Support and/or authorization letter
