SSS UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT REQUIREMENTS 2024 – Listed below are the documents required by the Social Security System in filing for a claim.
In the Philippines, one of the biggest state institutions is the Social Security System or more popularly called SSS. It has millions of members which is mostly composed of locally-employed individuals in the private sector and self-employed individuals.
SSS members submit a monthly contribution to keep their accounts updated in the pursuit of eligibility for the SSS loans and SSS benefits offered for the members. One of the benefit offers for the members is the Unemployment Benefit.
The Social Security System crafted the SSS Unemployment Benefit offer to make sure that the qualified members have something to turn to in times of involuntary job loss. For the SSS Unemployment Benefit requirements in terms of eligibility for application, the member/borrower should meet the following qualifications:
- an active member of the Social Security System before the involuntary separation from work
- 18 years old and above upon the filing of claim but not over 60 years old
- with at least 36 monthly contributions posted
- not received any other SSS benefit
- no unsettled SSS Unemployment Benefit within the last three (3) years before the date of the current unemployment started
However, not all involuntary job loss may qualify to the Unemployment Benefit offer. Here are the grounds that may disqualify a member from filing a claim:
- Gross and habitual neglect of duties
- Willful disobedience of legal orders from the employer or company
- Commission of crime or offense
- Voluntary resignation
- Serious misconduct or violation of the company’s rules and regulations
- Willful breach of trust or commission of dishonesty
To file for a claim in case of job loss, here are the SSS Unemployment Benefit requirements that must be submitted to the Social Security System:
- Original and photocopy of any primary identification cards (IDs) or documents
- Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Certification that proves the way and date of forceful job loss
- Notice of Termination from the Employer / Affidavit of Termination of Employment
