With regards to the Filipinos who made it into Forbes’ list of the richest billionaires across the globe, there are 16 of them. The list is topped by business tycoon and former Philippine Senator Manuel Villar.
Former Senator Manuel Villar who also ran for the Philippine presidency in 2010 but lost to the late former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III is most popularly called as “Manny Villar“. He is the husband of Sen. Cynthia Villar and their children also holds key positions in their businesses and the government.
Based on Forbes’ Billionaires’ list, Manny Villar’s net worth is at $11 billion. As of this writing, his real-time net worth is at $11.6 billion. In 2023, he ranked second in the Forbes’ Philippines 50 Richest next to the combined wealth of the Sy siblings.
Most of Manny Villar’s net worth are believed to have been contributed by their family’s businesses and the earnings he make from holding top positions in some of the biggest businesses in the country. He is the chairman of the property developer Vista Land & Lifescapes which is also run by his son, Manuel Paolo.
VistaREIT, a real estate investment trust, was listed under Vista Land and its initial portfolio has 10 shopping malls and two (2) office towers. According to Forbes, the biggest asset of the former Senator is his stake in Golden MV Holdings or formerly called Golden Bria. It is the developer behind several mass housing projects and memorial parks across the nation.
