Every year, there are several holidays in the Philippines. Some are regular holidays while others are special non-working holidays. The main difference between these two types of holidays is the extra pay that employees who report to work may get.

2026 Special Non-Working Days in the Philippines

Under a regular holiday, an employee who reports to work gets an extra pay that is additional to 100% of his/her basic pay for the first eight (8) hours of duty. In the case of offices and companies that do not operate during a regular holiday like the government agencies, the employees will not be subject to deductions despite of a “no work” day.

With regards to special non-working days, when an employee reports to work on a special non-working day, he/she is entitled to an extra pay that is equivalent to 30% of the basic day pay of the employee for the first eight (8) hours of duty.

Undeniably, whether it is a regular or a special non-working day, an extra pay is a huge help for many Filipinos who are faced with a constant challenge to make ends meet. Truth be told that aside from the personal occasions, the holidays are also among the days that many Filipinos await.

While there are still a lot of holidays left in the list of the Philippine Holidays 2025 most especially that the holiday season has officially began, Malacañang has already released the lists of holidays for next year including the 2026 special non-working days in the Philippines.

  • February 17 (Tuesday)  — Chinese New Year
  • April 4 — Black Saturday
  • August 21 (Friday) — Ninoy Aquino Day
  • November 1 (Sunday) — All Saints Day
  • November 2 (Monday) — All Souls’ Day
  • December 8 (Tuesday) — Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary
  • December 24 (Thursday) — Christmas Eve
  • December 31 (Thursday) — Last Day of the Year
