Guide on December 30 Holiday Pay for the Working Individuals
DECEMBER 30 HOLIDAY PAY – Here are the guidelines set by the Department of Labor and Employment for Rizal Day which is a regular holiday.
Every year, there is a long list of holidays in the Philippines. It is usually composed of regular holidays and special non-working days. While we are already in the last month of the year, the list of the Philippine Holidays 2025 still has remaining several holidays like the December 30.

The 30th day of December is usually a regular holiday in the Philippines to commemorate the life and works of the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. It is known as the Rizal Day. This day is usually within the Christmas vacation in schools while government offices cancel work as it is a regular holiday in the country.

In the case of individuals who are employed in the private sector, there is a December 30 holiday pay that they are entitled to. The guidelines for the holiday pay is made by the Department of Labor and Employment or DOLE.

The labor department has already released the December 30 holiday pay for the individuals who will have to report to work during the Rizal Day celebration. Here is a guide on the holiday pay for the said day:
- If the employee does not report to work on a regular holiday just like what usually happens in government offices, he/she is entitled to a 100% pay based on his/her daily wage. This December 30 holiday pay applies for as long as the employee reported to work or is on a leave of absence with pay on the day prior to the regular holiday.
- For employees who will work on a regular holiday, the December 30 holiday pay brings the daily wage to an equivalent of 200% of the worker’s basic pay for the first eight (8) hours of duty.
- For employees who do overtime during a regular holiday, the employer is mandated by DOLE an additional pay that is equivalent to 30% of the hourly rate of the employee on the said day.
- If the regular holiday is also the rest day of the employee but he/she reported to work, the employer is mandated to pay him/her an additional 30% of the basic salary of 200%.
- For work done after the first eight (8) hours of duty on a regular holiday that is also a rest day of the employee, he/she is entitled to an additional of 30% of the hourly rate on the said day.
