Two of the biggest state-run social insurance agencies in the Philippines are the Social Security System, more popularly called SSS, and the Government Service Insurance System or the GSIS. Individuals who are working in the government are required to be a member of the latter.

Every month, GSIS members remit the monthly contribution or savings to the Government Service Insurance System. This can ensure an updated account with the GSIS which can qualify the member to its loans and benefit offers.
