Update on GCash Eyes Benefits for OFWs
GCash is partnering with Xendit, a leading payment gateway in the Asia Pacific region for easier OFW remittance services.
Millions of Filipinos have their GCash accounts which offer several financial services. The Ayala-led fintech offers a virtual wallet where you can keep your money and use it whenever there is a need for money transfer. It makes a lot of financial processes so much easier.
In most cases, GCash users use their accounts for personal purposes like sending money to family and friends, making payments for online purchases, paying for subscriptions, or simply saving money online for cashless shopping in malls. Money kept in the virtual wallet may also be used in paying for dining expenses.
In other cases, there are users of the popular virtual wallet platform who use their accounts for business purposes. They accept payments from their customers and clients through their virtual wallet account. There are also those who use their account in making material purchases for their products.

Last March, the Ayala-led fintech announced that OFWs in 13 countries can now use foreign-based SIMs to register for a GCash account. The said feature was initially opened to OFWs in 13 countries which are as follows:

Based on the report, Xendit Philippines general manager Christian Reyes said that the partnership between their company and GCash is part of their goal to make digital payments and drive financial inclusion across the APAC region. As for GCash, its general manager, Paul Albano, highlighted its aim to make remittance transfers so much easier for Pinoys abroad.
