SSS DEPENDENT’S PENSION 2025 – Here is a guide on who are qualified under this benefit offer of the Social Security System.

In the Philippines, many Filipinos are paying their monthly contributions regularly not only to secure retirement benefits for themselves but for their families as well. Many people are aware that the pension may extend to the children or the dependents of the pensioner.

Social Security System

There are two (2) social insurance giants in the Philippines — the Social Security System (SSS) and the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS). Let us focus on the benefits that the SSS has for its members. One of them is the SSS Retirement Benefit.

SSS Dependent's Pension 2025

The Retirement Benefit offer of the Social Security System has several other benefit offers for the pensioners. One of them is the SSS Dependent’s Pension for the children of the pensioner who qualify to the following:

  • Legitimate, legitimated, legally adopted and illegitimate child who is:
    • not gainfully employed;
    • unmarried; and
    • has not reached 21 years of age or if over 21 years old, he/she is congenitally incapacitated or while still a minor was permanently incapacitated and incapable of self-support, physically or mentally.
  • a child who has entered into a common-law relationship and has not attained the age of 18

According to the Social Security System, in case the retiree has five (5) or more dependent legitimate, legitimated, legally adopted and illegitimate children, the giving of the SSS Dependent’s Pension will be prioritized among the dependent legitimate, legitimated and legally adopted children shall be preferred.

SSS

On the other side, in case there are less than five (5) legitimate, legitimated or legally adopted children by an SSS pensioner, the illegitimate children of the pensioner may be considered to make up to the five (5) dependents under the SSS Dependent’s Pension.

However, let it be known that the pension for the qualified dependents of an SSS pensioner also has limitations. According to the Social Security System, it will stop under the following cases:

When the dependent child…

  • reaches 21 years old, unless congenitally incapacitated; or while still a minor has been permanently incapacitated and incapable of self-support, physically or mentally;
  • is gainfully employed;
  • marries;
  • enters a common-law relationship upon attaining at least eighteen (18) years of age;
  • attains the age of eighteen (18) while having a common-law relationship; or
  • dies.

Do you want to file a claim to the Social Security System? The social insurance entity allows the over-the-counter application in some cases. However, there are requirements under the SSS Retirement Benefit filing of claim over-the-counter.
