The Filipinos are currently dealing with a lot of challenges. The public is reminded to remain extra careful because the threats of COVID-19 are still present. It is more than two (2) years now since the pandemic changed the lives of people and urged everyone to live under the “new normal”.
Amid the pandemic, many people lost their jobs as several businesses closed. A lot of small and big firms were not able to withstand the demands of the pandemic. The week-long, if not month-long, suspension of operations due to the restrictions dragged their funds down.
Furthermore, many businesses cannot cope with partial operations for several months. They decided to close after incurring only expenses and losses. Many employees lost their source of income amid the pandemic.
Currently, the government is in the pursuit of getting the economy of the country to its recovery. However, amid the efforts now, there are new threats like the increase of the food prices due to the ongoing tension between Russia and Ukraine that puts the latter in a crisis.
PH imports a lot of products from other countries thus the insufficient supply may cause the prices to go on an upward trend. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the LPG prices may also increase.
According to the report, it is expected that the LPG prices may increase by Php 10.00 to Php 15.00 per kilo. It is more than Php 100.00 higher to the price of an 11-kilogram tank of LPG. Each tank is currently between Php 793.00 to Php 1,053.00.
Currently, PH is dealing with a series of oil price hikes. The increase started in January 2022.
