Details about SSS-UnionBank “Upgraded” UMID Card for SSS Members
SSS-UNIONBANK – The Social Security System and UnionBank Philippines inked a partnership for an upgraded UMID card.
The Social Security System is one of the biggest government agencies in the Philippines that cater services to millions of Filipinos. Its services range from SSS benefits to loan offers and other assistance most especially in times of poverty, calamity, and other financial challenges.
Many Filipinos are members of the SSS. Most of these people are either working in the private sector or running their own businesses. There are also members of the Government Service Insurance Institution (GSIS), also one of the biggest social insurance institutions in the country, who are voluntary members of the SSS.
Recently, the Social Security System inked a partnership with UnionBank, one of the most trusted and popular banks operating in the Philippines, for a project that would benefit the former’s members.
The SSS-UnionBank partnership is for an upgraded UMID card. Currently, the government is releasing the UMID card as a general identification card for Filipinos. It serves as an identification card for the Social Security System (SSS), the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), and the Pag-IBIG Fund.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the upgraded UMID card which will be worked out by the SSS-UnionBank partnership will give members the benefits of having a government ID and a UnionBank debit card in one card.
An SSS member may use his or her UMID card to receive the loan proceeds from SSS and as well as for banking purposes. Both the SSS and the UnionBank are glad about the partnership that is set to benefit millions of members of the Social Security System. The offer of the upgraded UMID card is expected starting the fourth quarter or 2022.
