Recently, Abra was jolted by a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0. Initially, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) had the quake recorded at 7.3 magnitude before it was downgraded. The strong quake was felt even in some parts of Metro Manila.
The 7.0 magnitude quake was followed by several strong aftershocks. It caused damage to properties as well as loss of lives. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Committee (NDRRMC), at least five (5) people died due to the quake and more than 160 individuals were injured.
Public and private structures were damaged by the quake. Several families were left homeless by the incident. Several government agencies got offers to help the quake victims recover from the impacts of the quake.
The Pag-IBIG Fund is one of the government agencies that earthquake victims may turn to for loans. Recently, the government agency confirmed the Pag-IBIG Calamity Loan offer for quake victims.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pag-IBIG spokesperson Kalin Franco-Garcia said that up to 80% of the total savings of a member may be borrowed under the Pag-IBIG Calamity Loan. For example, if your total savings is P40,000, you may borrow up to P32,000 under the offer.
