The national government decided to put the entire Metro Manila under Alert Level 3 following the increase in the COVID-19 cases in several cities in the capital region after the holiday season. It is also in the pursuit to fight the spread of the Omicron variant.

Metro Manila is under Alert Level 3 from January 3 to January 15 and it was extended until January 31, 2022. Stricter measures are up and the mobility of the unvaccinated individuals is also limited.

The implementation of the Alert Level 3 in Metro Manila has effects on business operations. The capacity in shopping malls and as well as other public establishments like restaurants is reduced.

Due to its effects on business operations, a lot of employees lost their job amid the Alert Level 3 in Metro Manila. To this situation, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) decided to extend a one-time cash aid to the displaced workers amid the crisis.

The DOLE cash assistance for displaced workers is P5,000.00. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the application for it has started last Monday and there are two (2) options – the employer will be the one to apply for his or her displaced workers or a worker who lost his or her job may also opt for an individual application.

The Labor Department encourages employers to be the ones to apply for the DOLE cash assistance for their displaced workers. Based on the report, there are documents that employers must submit such as any of the following or a document that proves the list of the salaried workers:

• Payroll
• Logbook
• Employment contract
• Cash vouchers
