Update on Rollback in Oil Prices To Be Implemented on April 5 (Tuesday)
ROLLBACK IN OIL PRICES – Several oil companies announced adjustments in the prices of oil products starting April 5, 2022.
A lot of Filipinos are greatly affected by the series of oil price hikes in the Philippines starting in January 2022. Both individuals in the public and private sectors are financially burdened now in trying to cope with the increased prices of fuel.
According to several public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers, they can hardly bring home an amount that could cope with the needs of their household. They are appealing to the national government for assistance amid the series of increases in fuel prices.
The national government previously released fuel subsidies for PUV drivers. The assistance is worth Php 6,500.00 for every driver and it includes drivers of jeepneys, public buses, and delivery services.
However, according to several PUV drivers, what they need is a long-term solution to the problem. They are asking for more help from the government. Fuel discounts and subsidies were also released to fisherfolks and farmers.
Oil industries previously warned that the war between Ukraine and Russia may trigger an increase in oil prices. It was after a forecast that the oil price hikes may continue until May or June. Recently, huge price increases were implemented.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, a rollback in oil prices is set to be implemented. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, it was confirmed by several oil companies that released details about the set rollback in pump prices.
