NTC OKs Registration of Elon Musk’s Starlink as Internet Provider in PH
ELON MUSK’S STARLINK – SpaceX Starlink owned by the richest billionaire in the world got the approval of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) in the Philippines.
An internet connection is undeniably one of the daily needs of a lot of people now. The COVID-19 pandemic has undeniably boosted the said need for internet connectivity as students are under distance learning and several companies adopted a work-from-home setup.
The presence of gadgets and the internet have made a lot of people’s lives easier. The online world is also taking place because of gadgets and the internet among others provides entertainment, educational information, and a lot more. It is the turn to of many people with regard to random questions on how to do something.
However, there are instances when communication, entertainment, information, and a lot more are inaccessible because of poor connection problems. There are several internet providers in the Philippines and the country is visibly not closing its doors to other companies who would like to offer services.
Recently, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) approved the registration of billionaire Elon Musk’s Starlink. It is under SpaceX, one of the companies led by the richest person in the world.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) reacted to the approval of the registration of Elon Musk’s Starlink. The said approval of registration allows Starlink to setup as a satellite internet provider in the Philippines.
According to DICT, the department continues “to provide an enabling environment, especially for new players” like Starlink. DICT Acting Secretary Emmanuel Rey “Manny” R. Caintic told Starlink to follow the existing laws on telecommunications and make sure “to deliver faster and secure connectivity” in the country.
