FDA Speaks on Monde Nissin’s Lucky Me Products
FDA – The Philippine Food and Drug Administration broke its silence on Monde Nissin’s Lucky Me products amid issues.
Recently, Lucky Me products have been on the content of several reports after some countries requested the recall of the products due to an alleged high presence of ethylene oxide, a pesticide. Ireland, Malta, and France called for the recall of the products. Many people were alarmed by these reports as the products are undeniably among the favorite foods of many people.
In the Philippines, Lucky Me instant noodles and pancit canton are favorites of many people that they can eat these food at any time of the day. Usually, the instant noodles and the pancit canton are breakfast foods or afternoon snacks. They are usually paired with bread but there are also people who love to have them with rice.
The reports got a lot of people questioning the products. The Department of Health (DOH) assured the public that the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) will look into the matter.
Recently, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) broke its silence following an evaluation of the issues involving Monde Nissin’s Lucky Me products.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Food and Drug agency said that ethylene oxide is used in agricultural products exported to other countries to destroy salmonella. In the Philippines, the gas is usually used for gas sterilization.
FDA stressed that Monde Nissin, the company behind the Lucky Me products, is compliant with the food safety laws as per the latest inspections of its products. According to the agency, their food inspectorate has already conducted spot-check inspections and samples were also collected for laboratory analysis. It assured that the level of ethylene oxide in the seasoning of the Lucky Me products will be checked.
