Suppliers of School Uniform May Be Affected by DepEd Order?
SCHOOL UNIFORM – The suppliers of school uniforms are worried that some of their customers will cancel their orders.
This August, another academic year will start. The Department of Education (DepEd) which is now headed by Vice President Sara Duterte mandated August 22 as the opening of the school year 2022-2023. Parents now are preparing for the needs of their children.
Aside from the opening of the school year, many parents and students are also preparing for the resumption of face-to-face classes. It has been more than two (2) years now that the delivery of lessons is through blended learning – online classes or modules.
Blended learning was imposed for the safety of the students. Following the transition in leadership, DepEd released an order that full face-to-face classes will be implemented by November. Prior to it, schools may implement three or four days of face-to-face classes in a week.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio announced that public school students are not obliged to wear a school uniform. Following the announcement, the suppliers of school uniforms are worried that their customers might cancel their orders.
According to the report, the school uniform suppliers were supposedly hoping that they will be able to sell their stocks that were not sold amid the pandemic. However, now, students have the choice not to wear uniforms when going to school.
Juanito Acebuche, a seller of school uniforms, said that there is a possibility that his customers may not be able to get all the orders as they only got a 50% deposit for the uniforms. Another seller, Pearlita Bilon, expressed her aspiration that the wearing of school uniforms will be mandatory so the vendors will be able to sell their unsold products during the pandemic.
