OWWA MEDICAL ASSSISTANCE REQUIREMENTS 2024 – Here is a guide on the documents that OFWs must submit to apply for MEDplus to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
Many Filipinos are working abroad for several years now. There are even those who rarely went home to the Philippines for decades as they are bound to abide by a contract. There are also those who just made their first flight abroad to work.
The overseas Filipino workers or OFWs are considered heroes by the country not only for working hard for their families but their earnings abroad also help the country. However, these heroes are humans, too, and there might be inevitable cases of sickness. That is why there are state entities that is tasked to ensure their welfare and needs.
One of the state entities that were specifically designed to provide services for the Filipinos working abroad is the OWWA or the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration. It has several benefit offers for its members.
The OWWA is operating in the Philippines for several decades now. It has several benefit offers and one of them is the upplemental Medical Assistance for OFWs or the MEDplus. According to the state entity, it “is designed to provide supplemental medical relief for active OWWA and PhilHealth member-OFWs who are afflicted with dreaded diseases and were hospitalized”.
The MEDplus is open for OFWs who got diseases at the job sites or while in the Philippines. Under it, there is a case rate system as to how much may be extended to the OFW.
In availing the benefit offer, there are OWWA Medical Assistance requirements that must be prepared and submitted to the nearest branch of OWWA. Here are the documents that the state entity requires:
- OFW Membership Record (MR) — you may get it from OWWA RWO
- MEDPlus Application Form — you may get it from OWWA RWO
- one (1) Copy of Passport Size Picture — you may get it from OFW Member or Claimant
- valid Passport — you may get it from DFA
- valid Identification (I.D) Card — you may get it from Government or Company issued
- Member Data Record from PhilHealth — you may get it from PhilHealth
- Medical Certificate — you may get it from competent medical practitioner from legitimate medical institution/facility
If the family of OFW will claim the assistance because of OFW is abroad, a duly-notarized Special Power of Attorney executed by the OFW must be submitted. If the family of OFW will claim the assistance because the OFW died, a Death certificate of deceased OFW / marriage certificate or birth certificate of NOK-claimant issued by Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is needed.
