NOYNOY AQUINO -The Philippine economy had a stable growth under the leadership of former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
One of the biggest challenges in being a president is leading economy of a country. It is affected by a lot of factors including unexpected calamities and global concerns. Every president has his own strategy when it comes to keeping the economy of a country afloat or rising.
In the Philippines, based on a report on ABS-CBN, the highest gross domestic product (GDP) recorded since the 1970s was under the term of former Pres. Noynoy Aquino. He served the country from 2010 to 2016 bringing the economy a stable growth.
Former Pres. Aquino was the 15th president of the Republic of the Philippines. He came from a family of politicians and the only son of the late former Pres. Corazon “Cory Aquino” and the late former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. He is the only brother of actress-TV host Kris Aquino.
Before becoming the Chief Executive of the country, Ninoy had years of being a Deputy Speaker in the House of Representatives. He was also a senator like his late father. In 2009, when former Pres. Cory died, a lot of people urged him to run for president.
Then Sen. Noynoy Aquino took the presidential race promising the Filipinos to eradicate corruption and help the p families. Many were impressed by his leadership that was not tainted with corruption issues.
According to the report, under the presidency of former Pres. Noynoy Aquino, the Philippine economy had a stable growth with an average of 6%. Here is a list of the full-year GDP growth under his term:
- 2010 – 7.3 percent
- 2011 – 3.7 percent
- 2012 – 6.8 percent
- 2013 – 7.2 percent
- 2014 – 6.1 percent
- 2015 – 5.9 percent
- 2016 – 6.9 percent
Currently, the Philippines is mourning the death former Pres. Aquino. He was rushed to Capitol Medical Center this morning, June 24, and was reported to have passed away a few minutes since arrival to the hospital. His family has yet to release a statement over his passing.
