How Much Is the SSS Maternity Benefit Amount 2024 for Qualified Members?

One of the most life-changing events in the life of a woman is pregnancy, the start of a bigger journey towards being a mother. It can affect you in all aspects — physically, emotionally, mentally, and even financially. Truth be told that the check-ups and the childbirth requires thousands of money that the expecting mother/parents must be prepared of.
Meanwhile, in the case of female members of the Social Security System, they may have an option to turn to in times of pregnancy. Aside from the SSS Sickness Benefit and the other SSS benefits, the state-run social insurance institution also offers an SSS Maternity Benefit.
However, it is important for the female members of the Social Security System to be aware of the qualifications or the eligibility criteria set under the benefit offer. Here are the eligibility requirements under the SSS Maternity Benefit:
- posted at least three (3) months of contributions within the 12-month period immediately before the semester of childbirth or emergency termination of pregnancy
- must have processed a pregnancy notification
- If employed, the pregnant member must have notified the employer about the pregnancy;
- If self-employed, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), or have been separated from employment, the member must have directly notified the SSS.
How much is the SSS Maternity Benefit amount? The amount that the pregnant member or a member of the state-run social insurance agency who went through a pregnancy is intended to help in the expenses of the mother and the parents in the pregnancy journey to the childbirth. The amount may vary among members.
The SSS Maternity Benefit amount is based on the member’s Average Daily Salary Credit (ADSC). It will be multiplied to the type of pregnancy such as the following:
ADSC = Ave. MSC / 180
x 60 days for miscarriage/emergency termination of pregnancy
x 105 days for live childbirth (normal or caesarean section delivery)
x 120 days for solo parent under R.A. 8972 (Solo Parents’ Welfare Act of 2000)
105 days + 15 days
