In the Philippines, one of the government agencies that have crafted offers for students who are financially underprivileged but want to push through with their studies is the Department of Social Welfare and Development. It is more popularly called DSWD.

The DSWD actually has several programs for the welfare of the Filipino people most especially the poor. One of its programs is the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation or the AICS.

Under the AICS, the government agency offers the DSWD Transportation Cash Aid and the DSWD Medical Cash Aid. It also has the DSWD Student Cash Assistance offer that aims to help qualified students in their studies.

DSWD Student Cash Assistance Requirements 2025

The DSWD Student Cash Assistance offer is open for elementary, secondary, and college students as well as students of vocational studies. Who are qualified to apply for the aid offered by the social welfare department?

Here are the qualifications under the cash aid offer:

  • breadwinners or Filipino students who take the responsibility of supporting their own studies
  • working students or those who have to take part-time jobs so they can support their financial needs
  • those who are living without a family or relatives or students who do not have to a place to call home
  • children of solo parents
  • children of parents who have no means of earning to support the studies of their children
  • children of persons with disabilities or PWDs
  • children of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs)

With regards to the DSWD Student Cash Assistance requirements for application, the social welfare department requires the submission of the following:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Enrollment
  • School ID Card of a Student
  • Proof of Income (either of the following:
    • Barangay Certification
    • Income Tax Returns to Demonstrate Financial Need).
  • Authorization Letter in case the applicant is not available
  • ID Proof of Parents or Guardians.

To apply for the cash assistance offer, you may do it through a walk-in process to the nearest office of the Department Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Make sure to bring your requirements. You will be scheduled for an interview. Be back on your scheduled date for the evaluation.
