PHILHEALTH CONTRIBUTION 2021 – Here is a guide on the contribution rate for members of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) who are earning Php 70,000.00 and above.
In the Philippines, one of the biggest agencies under the government is the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or more commonly called as PhilHealth. Many Filipinos are members of this health insurance institution.
PhilHealth members may obtain assistance from the agency during times of hospitalizations and medical emergencies. Undeniably, its packages can be a great help in easing the member’s burden in paying for the hospital bill.
To be eligible for the benefits, a PhilHealth member must have an updated account. Every month or quarter, a member must pay for a contribution set based on his or her monthly salary.
This January 2021, PhilHealth is set to increase the rate of the monthly contribution. It is applicable to all members of the government agency – employed, self-employed, voluntary, and direct contributor members.
Under the PhilHealth Contribution 2021, from 3%, the rate is increased to 3.5% of the monthly income of the member. For members earning Php 70,000.00 and above, the total monthly contribution is Php 2,450.00
The contribution is shared by the employee and employer. Thus, under the PhilHealth contribution 2021, the share of the employee is Php 1,225.00 monthly and the employer is set to pay the same amount.
However, currently, the increase in the PhilHealth contribution is in hot waters. A lot of members are not in favor of it amid the pandemic and following the corruption issues.
