SSS Provides Pension under Disability Benefit Offer for Members

A member of the Social Security System may obtain a monthly pension under the SSS Disability Benefit when unexpected situations happen.

In the Philippines, countless Filipinos rely to their membership to the Social Security System when certain unexpected situations happen. Among these unwanted situations that might occur are incidents that can leave a person with disability.

For the SSS members, whether it is a partial disability or a total disability, a member of the state-run social insurance institution may apply for the SSS Disability Benefit offer for financial solutions amid the challenging times.

Under the said benefit offer, a member may obtain eith an SSS Disability Pension or a lump sum. The monthly pension is a cash paid to the member who has posted at least 36 monthly contributions to the state-run social insurance agency prior to the semester of the disability.

The SSS Disabiliy Pension for members who have posted less than 10 credited years of service is at least Php 1,000 monthly. The members with at least 10 CYS will get at least Php 1,200 per month. Those who have 20 CYS and more will get at least Php 2,400 monthly.

Aside from the SSS Disability Pension, the member will also get a Php 500.00 monthly supplemental allowance and the Php 1,150 additional benefit from the state-run social insurance institution.

Disability claims whose approved pension duration is less than 12 months will fall to the lump sum category.

The monthly pension for partially-disabled members is given up to a certain number of months based on extent of the disability.

In the case of the totally and permanently-disabled members, a lifetime monthly pension may be granted by the Social Security System. If the member recovers or returns to work, the pension may be stopped.
