SSS MATERNITY BENEFIT REIMBURSEMENT– Here is a guide for the employers in filing for reimbursement application to the Social Security System.

In the Philippines, there is an edge for individuals who are members of the Social Security System or more popularly called SSS. The same thing is true for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who are SSS members.

Members of the Social Security System who want to maintain an active account must regularly post a monthly contribution. While it may take a slice from the monthly income of the member, on the other side, it ensures the qualifications of the member to the many SSS benefits and SSS loans that can provide financial solutions.

One of the benefit offers is the Maternity Benefit offer. It is extended to qualified pregnant members of different cases to financially-aid them.

Under the offer, the employer may pay for the Maternity Benefit of the qualified employee and avail the SSS Maternity Benefit reimbursement. To apply for reimbursement, there are documents that must be prepared and submitted to the state entity.

Here is a guide for employers on the requirements in processing for an SSS Maternity Benefit Reimbursement application:

For employers who want to apply for the reimbursement of a Maternity Benefit in the case of live childbirth by an employee, the employer must submit any of the following, whichever is applicable:

  • Child’s Certificate of Live Birth duly registered with the Local Civil Registrar (LCR) or issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA); or
  • Report of Child’s Birth issued abroad; or
  • Child’s Certificate of Death duly registered with the LCR or issued by the PSA or issued abroad.

If the document provided was issued abroad, if applicable, it must be submitted with an English translation.

If Miscarriage, prepare and submit any of the following documents:

  • Result of pregnancy test duly signed by the physician/municipal health officer; or
  • Result of other diagnostic test which may include ANY of the following:
    • Ultrasound; or
    • Blood Pregnancy test (Beta HCG); or
    • Early Pregnancy factor

If H-Mole/Ectopic Pregnancy, submit a Certified true copy of hospital/medical records stating how the condition was managed.

If Still Birth/Fetal Death, the employer must submit any of the following, whichever is applicable:

  • Fetal Certificate of Death duly registered with the LCR or issued by the PSA or issued abroad; or
  • Certified true copy of hospital/medical records stating the outcome of delivery.

The Social Security System has set additional documents in certain cases. Here is a guide on the supporting documents that employers may submit for the SSS Maternity Benefit Reimbursement application:

If Solo Parent, submit any of the following documents, whichever is applicable:

  • Solo Parent ID issued within two (2) years from date of delivery by the Local Government Unit (LGU) and signed by the Social Worker and the City/Municipal Mayor; or
  • Certification of eligibility of the Solo Parent issued by the LGU and signed by the Social Worker/City/ Municipal Mayor, if the ID is not yet available.

If Caesarian Section Delivery, submit any of the following documents on top of your SSS Maternity Claim requirements:

  • Operating Room Record (ORR); or
  • Discharge Summary Report; or
  • Surgical Memorandum; or
  • Detailed invoice showing caesarian delivery charges, for deliveries abroad only; or
  • Medical/Clinical Abstract; or Delivery Report; or
  • Similar medical documents submitted which indicate the type of contingency.

For SE/VM who was previously employed or a member separated from employment, in case the delivery, miscarriage, or the ETP happened within the employment period or within six (6) months from her date of separation from employment, the member of SSS must submit any of the following, whichever is applicable:

  • Certificate of Separation from Employment indicating the effective date of separation and that no advance payment was granted by the Employer; or
  • Affidavit of undertaking indicating effective date of separation from employment and that no advance payment was granted by the Employer.
