SSS UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS 2025 – Here is a guide for members on how to file a claim to the Social Security System when you lose your job.
Undeniably, a huge part of the Filipino populace depends on their salary from their jobs so they can eat at least thrice a day. Thus, a job loss is one of the most devastating things that can happen to many people. However, this thing is inevitable in the case of many people. Meanwhile, although you are one of the people who do not like it, you can prepare for this inevitable reality.

In the Philippines, there are social insurance institutions that provide a safety net for their members in times of job loss. One of these entities is the Social Security System or more popularly called SSS.

Millions of Filipinos are members of the Social Security System. It is because most companies and offices in the private sector mandate their employees to maintain an active membership to the social insurance giant. It is done through regularly posting monthly contributions.
While the monthly contribution may take a cut from your salary, it widens your financial options through the different SSS loans as well as benefit offers. One of the benefit offers of the social insurance giant is the SSS Unemployment Benefits.

The SSS Unemployment Benefits were crafted as a “cash benefit granted to covered employees, including Kasambahays, and Overseas Filipino Workers who are involuntarily separated from employment and have satisfied the eligibility requirements”. Undeniably, this can be a relief for many people who are afraid of losing their jobs.
However, it is important to know that there are grounds that are invalid under the SSS Unemployment Benefits. The job loss should not be due to any of the following:
- Gross and habitual neglect of duties
- Willful disobedience of legal orders from the employer or company
- Commission of crime or offense
- Voluntary resignation
- Serious misconduct or violation of the company’s rules and regulations
- Willful breach of trust or commission of dishonesty
The amount that a member may receive under the SSS Unemployment Benefit may differ among the members who will apply for it. The salary of the member is a factor but you can check it out to find out an estimate of how much you may get.
