SSS CASH BENEFIT – Here is a guide on how much a member of the Social Security System who lost his or her job can get.

A lot of people are financially struggling amid the coronavirus or COVID-19 crisis in the Philippines. If not totally losing their source of income, some monthly earnings were affected as not all businesses can fully operate.

The whole Philippines is still under a community quarantine now. The high risk areas are implementing the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) while the low and medium risk ones are under a Modified GCQ.

Previously, the entire Luzon was under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). Most parts of Visayas and Mindanao implemented the same measure then. Several non-essential businesses temporarily stopped their operation.

SSS Cash Benefit

After weeks of not operating or operating on limits, several businesses closed as they can no longer cope with the expenses. Many people lost their jobs amid the crisis in the Philippines.

Sadly, many of these individuals who lost their source of income are also the breadwinners of their family. They are now struggling to find ways on how to provide for the everyday food and needs of the household.

A relief for the members of the Social Security System is on the surface. Based on a report on Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, the SSS will be giving cash aid benefits for its members who lost their job.

SSS Public Affairs and Special Events Division Head Fernando Nicolas said that the member may receive up to Php 20,000.00 depending on his or her monthly salary. It will be given in two (2) tranches.

The member needs to present a certification issued by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and his or her savings account in applying for the said benefit.

According to the Social Security System Head, a member who is also a beneficiary of other government programs that gave cash aid amid the crisis may still qualify for the cash benefit. The first tranche may be received within five (5) days since the approval of the application.

  3. How can I get a certification from the Department of Labor and Employment? (DOLE) to apply for the SSS cash aid benifits, I lost my job last May 15,2020 because of this pandemic covid-19, may employer decided to close his business.

    I already have 111 contributions in SSS. Am a retired 22 years OFW September last year.
    Please help for me to acquire a business loan with lower monthly interest to start with.
    For your kind info, I didn’t received any of supposed benefits from SAP and OWWA.
