In the Philippines, the local government has several components including the Sangguniang Kabataan or more popularly called SK. It is the government set to handle the programs and the services for the youth in the barangay.
The Sangguniang Kabataan is led by the SK chairperson or more popularly called the SK chairman. He or she is elected through a local election alongside a barangay poll. Aside from the chairman, there SK is also composed of seven SK members that are also determined through an election.
Many people may be wondering if there is an SK chairman salary as well as an SK member salary or none. There is actually none but the officials of the Sangguniang Kabataan receive a monthly honoraria.
The said monthly honoraria which is also called the SK chairman salary is based on certain factors. The Department of Budget and Management, through the Local Budget Circular No. 149, has also set a limit on the maximum honoraria that a chairperson may receive. It depends on the location of the barangay.
