List of Canada Visa Requirements for Application Process

Canada is a home to many beautiful places. That is why a lot of people has this country on their bucket list. It is the second biggest country in the world composed of 10 provinces and three (3) territories. Do you wish to visit Canada, too?
The Banff in Alberta, the Jasper National Park, and Ontario’s popular Niagara Falls are among the best places to visit when you get to Canada. Also, you can spend some nights at Whitehorse, a small city with a wide backyard.
Although Canada is not one of the visa-free countries 2023 for Filipino Passport-Holders, still the application for a travel visa is open for a wide range of purposes for visit. You just have to prepare the requirements.
There are significant eligibility requirements in applying for a Canadian travel visa. To qualify for the visa application, the visa applicant must be:
- in good health
- no criminal or immigration-related convictions
- enough money for foreign stay
- ties with job, financial assets, or family as proof to return home
With regards to the Canada visa requirements, there are documents under the general requirements which you must submit for a visa application regardless of your purpose of visit to the foreign country. Here are these documents that you should prepare:
- duly-accomplished IMM5257 Form / Application Form for Visitor Visa
- duly-accomplished Family Information Form (either the IMM5645E or IMM5707 Forms)
- valid Philippine passport
- digital photo
- Passport-size (35mm x 45mm)
- white background
- Proof of Purpose of Travel
- flight ticket departing Canada
- travel itinerary
- hotel booking
- If invited, submit the following documents:
- invitation letter
- a copy of their citizen card
- payslips or tax docs
- documents indicating travel history
- previous passports used within the last 10 years
- entrance and exit stamps
- expired and valid visas
- Proof of Means of Financial Support
- Certificate of Employment
- Bank statement for the past 4 months
- Income Tax Returns (ITR)
- proof of assets
- If traveling for business:
- SEC, DTI, or BIR registration documents
- Letter of explanation
In case you are flying to Canada with a child or a minor, there are additional Canada visa requirements that you must prepare and submit for the application. The list of additional requirements depend if the child is traveling alone, travelling with one parent only, or the child’s parents are separated and they share custody.
In an instance that the child or the minor is traveling alone to Canada, the following documents must be submitted for the visa application:
- minor child’s own passport
- copy of birth certificate
- letter of authorization
- written in English or French if possible
- signed by both parents or by legal guardian
- indicate’s parents’ address and telephone number
- indicate’s name, address and telephone number of adult who will take care of the child
In case one (1) parent is traveling with the child to Canada, prepare the following documents and submit them in applying for a Canadian travel visa:
- minor child’s own passport
- copy of birth certificate
- letter of authorization
- written in English or French if possible
- signed by both parents or by legal guardian
- indicate’s parents’ address and telephone number
- indicate’s name, address and telephone number of adult who will take care of the child
In a situation wherein the parents of the child who will be traveling to Canada are separated but they share custody over the minor, the following are the additional Canada visa requirements for application:
- minor child’s own passport
- copy of birth certificate
- copies of the legal custody documents
- letter of authorization from the other parent who has custody to take the child on a trip
Bring your documents with you to the Embassy of Canada to the Philippines in Makati, Metro Manila. It is best not to secure a plane ticket ahead of getting a visa application approval.
