Are you one of the expectant mothers who are preparing to file for an SSS Maternity Benefit offer? Or you might be one of the female members of the state-run social insurance giant who have heard about the beneficial offer. It can now be applied for online.
More and more entities now are finding ways to make their services more accessible to the public or their members. One of these SSS benefits is the Social Security System or more popularly called SSS which has a huge member population. Its members are mainly composed of individuals who are working in the private sector.
One of the benefit offers of the Social Security System is the SSS Maternity Benefit that was crafted for female members of the state-run social insurance institution who got pregnant. It is open for members who meet the following eligibility criteria:
- posted at least three (3) months of contributions within the 12-month period immediately before the semester of childbirth or emergency termination of pregnancy
- must have processed a pregnancy notification
- If employed, the pregnant member must have notified the employer about the pregnancy;
- If self-employed, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), or have been separated from employment, the member must have directly notified the SSS.
With regards to the SSS Maternity Benefit amount, it varies. A member may file for a claim at a branch of the state-run social insurance institution or she may also file for an SSS Maternity Benefit claim online.

- Step 1 — Prepare the documentary requirements in filing for SSS Maternity Benefit claim.
- Step 2 — Log in to your My.SSS member account. If you have yet to register for an account, you can simply register for SSS account online.
- Step 3 — Tap Benefits under the E-services tab and tap Apply for Maternity Benefit.
- Step 4 — Read the important reminders of the Social Security System, then tap Proceed.
- Step 5 — Type the information require in the online form and tap Proceed.
- Step 6 — Provide the information about the type of delivery.
- Step 7 — Tick the box for solo parent if you’re a solo parent with a valid Solo Parent ID. An SSS member has an option to allocate one to seven days leave credits to her employed spouse.
- Step 8 — Pick the disbursement account.
- Step 9 — View the number of days and the estimated maternity benefit you may receive.
- Step 10 — Attach the documents required by the SSS. Tap I Certify and Submit and then OK in the pop-up window.
- Step 11 — For successful submission of claim applications, you will see a confirmation message on your screen. Keep a copy of your transaction number.
- Step 12 — You will receive an email from SSS. Wait for an update about the result of your claim application.
