GSIS EMERGENCY LOAN NOVEMBER 2024 – Here is a guide on who may apply for the Calamity Loan offer of the Government Service Insurance System.

The Philippine is one of the countries that is usually hit by natural calamities most especially typhoons and earthquakes. Thus, there is a huge advantage to have an access to calamity loans as it can be a safety net against the unforeseen and inevitable circumstances.

In the Philippines, there are several calamity loan-providing entities. One of them is the Government Service Insurance System or more popularly called GSIS. It has designed a loan offer that can financially-assist the qualified members in recovering from the impacts of a natural calamity.

There are several GSIS loans for the members of the state entity and one of them is the GSIS Emergency Loan, its calamity loan offer. It offers up to Php 20,000 loanable amount for qualified members who are living in areas declared by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan/Panglungsod and/or the National Disaster Reduction Risk Management Council under a state of calamity.

Members of the GSIS who has an existing calamity loan offer may still apply for the GSIS Emergency Loan. In this case, the borrowing amount allowed by the social insurance entity is up to Php 40,000.

The GSIS implements a 6% interest rate. The amount borrowed under the loan offer is payable for up to 36 months or within three (3) years. Here are the qualifications in applying for the loan offer:

  • member must be in active service and not on leave of absence without pay
  • member must be a bona fide resident or employee of the government office within the declared calamity area
  • has no loan that has been declared in default
  • has no arrearages in the payment of mandatory social insurance contributions
