SCHOOL SUPPLIES PRICE GUIDE – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) released a guide on the costs of school supplies.
The opening of classes in the Philippines is drawing near. The Department of Education (DepEd) which governs the processes involving the primary and secondary education in the country set August 22 as the opening of the classes for the academic year 2022-2023.
DepEd wants full face-to-face classes this year. Previously, the education department released an order containing a mandate for the resumption of the face-to-face classes by November. From August 22 to October 31, schools may implement a mixture of blended learning and face-to-face classes.
Under blended learning which was adopted amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the lessons and the classroom instructions are given to the students through online classes or modules. Amid the opening of another school year drawing near, parents are starting to buy school supplies for their children.
Previously, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) expressed their target to release a new school supplies price guide for the consumers. Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual previously expressed his desire for a more detailed guide for the consumers.
In the new school supplies price guide recently released by DTI, there are details such as whether or not a notebook is spiral, the number of leaves of a pad paper for a certain price, the brand name, the paper quality, and lot more details that may justify the costs.
The newly-released guide is in time as more and more parents are into buying the school supplies for their kids this week. There is a little more than one week left before classes in elementary and secondary schools in the country will start. DepEd previously called for donations from the private sector to help those who cannot afford to buy school supplies.
