“Revenge Travel” Now Happening 2 Years After Pandemic Started

REVENGE TRAVEL – Philippine Travel Agencies Association confirmed that indeed there is a spike in travel in the country as restrictions eased.

The COVID-19 pandemic affected a lot of fields and industries in several countries across the globe. It urged the people to live in a new normal setting in the pursuit to curb the spread of the virus. For several months to more than a year, many families who are across miles were not able to see each other personally.

Strict quarantine measures and lockdowns were implemented to curb the spread of the virus. There were several months when only essential travels are advised to be taken. The tourism sector is one of the fields greatly affected by the pandemic.

Meanwhile, several nations across the globe have already eased their restrictions. There are also a lot of people who are back to traveling alone or with family, friends, or loved ones.

Revenge Travel

Many individuals are now eager to spend a vacation with their loved ones at a white sand beach, spend some time with their family and friends abroad, explore new places, etc. Even the travel agency group Philippine Travel Agencies Philippines confirmed that “revenge travel is real”.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, PTAA President Michelle Taylan said that they are making sure that they are offering destinations that are safe and ready to accept travelers. They are also coming up with travel packages that are affordable.

The travel agency group said that travel bookings to Cebu, Palawan, Bohol, and Batanes have greatly increased. These are known as Holy Week destinations. She stressed that “revenge travel” is really happening. According to her, the spike can already be compared to the travel surge before the pandemic happened.
