MCDONALD’S – The fast-food giant decided to sell all of its restaurants and businesses in the country and exit Russia.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine hooked the attention of several countries across the globe. Furthermore, several huge companies reacted and made a stand regarding the ongoing tension between the two (2) nations which already resulted in several deaths.

Countless hearts were broken by the deaths that were the product of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Some of the casualties are civilians and young children. Several nations condemned Russia’s move of invading Ukraine.

Several big companies also made their stand condemning Russia for its move to invade Ukraine. Many giant companies decided to stop operating in the Russian nation amid the ongoing war.

McDonald’s, one of the biggest fast-food chains across the globe, is one of the companies that decided to stop its operation in Russia amid the country’s invasion of Ukraine. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the fast-food giant has over 850 restaurants in the country. It has 62,000 employees.

Then, despite its decision to stop the operation of its restaurants in Russia, the fast-food giant pledged to continue paying its employees. However, recently, it decided to exit Russia and sell its restaurants and businesses in the country.

According to the report, McDonald’s is looking to sell all its restaurants to a local buyer citing that the humanitarian crisis due to the war in Ukraine is not in line with its values. The fast-food giant has operated for 30 years in the country.

After the sale of the restaurants, the new owner will not be able to use the name and logo of the fast-food chain. Its restaurant businesses in Russia account for 9% of the revenue of the company and 3% of its operating profit.
