Update on Meralco Electric Rate this Month of July
MERALCO ELECTRIC RATE – The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced that it will implement a drop in the electricity rate this July.
One of the utility bills that most households deal with every month is the electric bill. It depends on the electric consumption of the household and the electric rate set by the power company. There are different power companies operating in the Philippines.
One of the power companies in the Philippines that cover several cities across the nation is Manila Electric Company or more commonly known as “Meralco”. It provides electricity in Metro Manila, the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal, and the parts of the provinces of Batangas, Laguna, Pampanga, and Quezon.
Currently, a lot of people are struggling financially due to the increasing prices of basic goods and commodities in the country and as well as the high costs of fuel. Any drop in utility bills would surely help ease many people’s financial burden.
Previously, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) ordered the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) a P21 billion refund. The implementation of the refund will be felt by the consumers of the power company this July as there will be a drop in the Meralco electric rate.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the drop in the Meralco electric rate will be at P0.71 per kilowatt-hour. The following are sample computations of the decrease in the Meralco bill based on power consumption amid the drop in the electric rate:
- 200kwh consumption – P142
- 300kwh consumption – P213
- 400kwh consumption – P284
- 500kwh consumption – P355
