Filipino professional basketball player Kai Sotto was recently hailed as the new brand ambassador of 1xBet in Asia in line with the highly-rated firm’s pursuit to support sports in Southeast Asia and strengthen the brand awareness in the region.
Born on May 11, 2002 in Las Piñas, Philippines, Kai Zacarri Perlado Sotto came from a family of cagers being a son of professional basketball player Ervin Sotto. Growing up with a basketball player father, Kai developed a great passion for playing the same sports his father is known for.
As early as four years old, Kai Sotto held an orange ball and, as a child, he also looked up to basketball stars June Mar Fajardo, Tim Duncan, and Kristaps Porzingis. He’d love to follow the playing styles of the legends in the field.

To recall, it was in 2016 when Kai Sotto started his basketball career. He played for Ateneo Blue Eaglets club. He swept off a successful three-year career under Ateneo Blue Eagles and was held as rookie of the year, MVP of the season, and the MVP of the final. He was a significant player in his team’s victory for the championship title with his exemplary individual performance having hit an average of 25.1 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 2.6 blocked shots per game.
In 2017, Kai Sotto was part of the Philippine youth team that finished the SEABA U16 victorious. Two years after, in 2019, the young basketball star flew to the United States for the elite TSF prep school in Atlanta.
In U.S., Kai got different offers and decided to be part of the Ignite Team, an NBA G League team. Amid the height of the pandemic, the situation posted a challenge on his sporting life but he pushed through.
In 2021, Kai Sotto continued his basketball journey with the Adelaide 36ers from the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). He spent two (2) seasons in the Green Continent.
After spending some productive time for his sporting career in U.S., the cager flew to Japan and became part of the Hiroshima Dragonflies club. He’s also part of the Yokohama B-Corsairs, a team from the Japanese B.League.
In 2023, at spring time, Orlando Magic invited Kai Sotto NBA Summer League. In the same year, he was significant in the national team’s victory at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
