GSIS EDUCATIONAL SUBSIDY – The Government Service Insurance System is now accepting applications for the educational subsidy.
Truths be told that a lot of people were not able to go to school due to poverty in life. In some cases, both parents have no stable jobs and can hardly put food in the table. In other cases, both or either of the parents have jobs but their earnings are not enough to cover all the expenses.
Some parents receive low salaries making their earnings already not enough for food, travel allowances, and utility bills. Some even have no extra money intended for emergency cases. This situation usually affects the children – either they can hardly go to school or they lost their focus at all.
To help in responding to situations like this, the Government Service Insurance System offers a financial assistance to children or dependents of low-income members of the institution. The program is called the GSIS Educational Subsidy.
The GSIS Education Subsidy is also in response to the call of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to help give education opportunities to Filipinos who are in need. According to GSIS President and General Manager Rolando Ledesma Macasaet, the social insurance institution targets to help the GSIS members who have low salaries and have children or dependents to send to school.
The application for the said subsidy offer is until September 10, 2021. It is open for active members of GSIS who are:
- permanently employed in the public office or agency they are working for
- occupying positions with a salary grade that is 24 or below
- updated in their premium payments with no unpaid or underpaid loan amortization for more than three (3) months
According to GSIS, the students who are qualified to be subsidized are children or dependents of GSIS members who are in college and taking a four-year or five-year course or have been accepted by a college or university under the College of Higher Education (CHED).
