Guide on the SSS Sickness Benefit Allowance for Qualified Members
SSS SICKNESS BENEFIT ALLOWANCE – Here is a guide on the allowance that the sick/injured member will get under the Employees’ Compensation Program.
If you are a member of the Social Security System or SSS, there are several benefits that you can turn to most especially in times of financial needs. The social insurance institution which is one of the biggest government agencies in the country has crafted different benefits and programs that could its members in times of sickness, pregnancy, calamity, etc.
In fact, employees of the private companies in the Philippines who are members of the SSS has the Employees’ Compensation Program that they can turn to in times of sickness, injury, and even death. It covers instances of accidents that took place in line of work.
To qualify for the Employees’ Compensation Program to avail the benefit for the purpose of sickness or injury, the following criteria were set by the state-run social insurance agency:
- sickness or injury is work-connected
- the sickness or injury is work-connected
- SSS was notified of the sickness or injury
With regards to the SSS Sickness Benefit allowance under the EC Program, here are the amounts set by the Social Security System:
- Temporary Total Disability (TTD)
- minimum amount – Php 110.00 daily
- maximum amount – Php 480.00 daily
- Permanent Partial Disability / Permanent Total Disability (PPD/PTD)
- minimum pension amount – Php 2,000
- Additional pension amounting to Php 1,150
- Supplemental or Carer’s allowance of Php 1,000
- 13th Month
Under the pension due to a permanent partial disability or permanent total disability, the dependent minor children of the SSS member will get a Dependent’s Pension that is equivalent to 10% of the monthly pension.
According to SSS, only five (5) dependent minor children beginning from the youngest will be granted the pension. To claim, the SSS Employees Compensation requirements must be submitted not more than three (3) years since the occurance of the sickness, injury, or death.
