Guide on SSS Membership Application Process
SSS MEMBERSHIP FOR KASAMBAHAY – For individuals who are working in a household, here’s a guide on how to register and the requirements.
In the Philippines, more and more household employers want to widen the financial resources and options of the people working for them. Thus, a lot of employers had their household helpers or kasambahays registered to the Social Security System.
More popularly called SSS, the Social Security System is one of the biggest state-run social insurance institutions in the country. It has several SSS loans and SSS benefits that the members may turn to and they address many of the most financially-challenging situations a person can be in.
Many employers want their household employees to qualify to the loans and benefits extended by the Social Security System thus they mandate a membership. The employers pay for a share in the contribution of their kasambahays.
Here are the steps for the SSS membership for kasambahay:
Step 1 — Gather the requirements.
The Social Security System has set a unique list of requirements for the SSS membership for kasambahay. Here are the documents required by the state-run social insurance institution:
- duly-accomplished and signed Kasambahay Unified Registration Form, Household Employer Unified Registration Form (PPS-HEUR1 Form), and Household Employment Unified Report Form (PPS-HEUR2 Form).
- prepare an original and a photocopy of one (1) valid primary document such as the following:
- Birth Certificate
- Baptismal Certificate
- LTO Driver’s License
- Passport
- Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Card
- Seaman’s Book
- In the absence of a valid primary document, you may submit original and photocopies of two (2) of the following secondary documents:
- Bank Account Passbook
- ATM card with the cardholder’s nam
- Birth or Baptismal Certificate
- Alien Certificate of Registration
- ATM card and certification from the issuing bank if the account number doesn’t bear the cardholder’s name
- Certificate from various authorities
- Certificate of Naturalization from the Bureau of Immigration
- Certificate of Licensure, Qualification Document, or Seafarer’s ID from the Maritime Industry Authority
- Company ID
- Company Representative Authorization Card issued by SSS
- Fisherman’s Card issued by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources
- Credit Card
- GSIS Card or Certificate of Membership
- ID card issued by professional organizations recognized by the PRC
- Health or Medical Card
- Life Insurance Policy
- ID card issued by Local Government Units
- Marriage Contract
- NBI Clearance
- Pag-IBIG Member’s Data Form
- Membership card issued by private companies
- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration card
- PhilHealth Member’s Data Record
- School ID
- Police Clearance
- Postal ID
- Senior Citizen Card
- Seafarer’s Registration Certificate issued by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration
- Tax Identification Number (TIN) Card
- Transcript of School Records
- Temporary License and Student Permit issued by the Land Transportation Office
- Voter’s Identification Card or Affidavit
Step 2 — Fill in the Forms.
If you are the kasambahay who is applying for the SSS membership, fill in the Kasambahay Unified Registration Form. It may also be filled-in by the employer.
The employer must also accomplish the Household Employer Unified Registration Form (PPS-HEUR1 Form) and the Household Employment Unified Report Form (PPS-HEUR2 Form).
Step 3 — Submit your requirements.
After the forms are duly-accomplished and you have all the other documentary requirements, the kasambahay may now visit a branch of the Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG Fund, or PhilHealth. The SS number will be given after a successful registration process.
