One of the government entities in the Philippines with a multi-million member populace is the Social Security System or more popularly called SSS. It even has members who are overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) but are in a constant pursuit of maintaining an updated account to the social insurance institution.
The SSS is in the service of the Filipino people for several decades now. It provides different kinds of offers that attend to the most financially-challenging situations. Many of its members are local employees in the public and private sectors as the SSS member registration is mandated by the employers.
An updated membership to the Social Security System widens the options of the employees. The social insurance institution got SSS loans and a long list of the benefit offers for the members that address different needs. Here are the benefit offers:
- SSS Sickness Cash Benefit
- SSS Disability Benefits
- SSS Maternity Benefit
- SSS Retirement Benefit
- SSS Death Benefit
SSS Membership Requirements. In the case of local employees, here are the documents required by the Social Security System for submission in applying to the a member of the state entity:
- completely filled-out and signed SSS Form E-1 (Personal Record)
- original/certified true copy and photocopy of any of the following:
- baptismal
- birth certificate
- driver’s license
- passport
- Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Card
- Seaman’s Book
- Marriage Contract, if applicable
- Birth or Baptismal Certificate/s of child/ren, if applicable
In the absence of the above-mentioned proof of identity, an applicant may choose to submit any two (2) of the following which must bear a recent photo and his/her date of birth:
- Alien Certificate of Registration
- ATM card with the cardholder’s name
- ATM card and certification from the issuing bank that the account number belongs to the cardholder, if the card does not bear the cardholder’s name.
- Bank Account Passbook
- Birth/Baptismal Certificate of children
- Certificate form:
- Office of the Southern/Northern Cultural Communities
- Office of Muslim Affairs
- Certificate of Naturalization issued by the Bureau of Immigration
- Company ID
- Company Representative Authorization Card issued by SSS
- Credit Card
- Fishermen’s Card issued by Bureau of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources (BFAR)
- GSIS Card
- GSIS Certificate of Membership
- Health or Medical Card
- ID Card issued by Local Government Units (e.g. Barangay/ Municipality/City)
- ID Card issued by professional associations recognized by PRC
- Life Insurance Policy
- Marriage Contract
- NBI Clearance
- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Card
- Pag-IBIG Member’s Data Form
- PHIC Member’s Data Record
- Police Clearance
- Postal ID Card
- School ID
- Senior Citizen Card
- Tax Identification Card/Affidavit
- Transcript of School Records
- Voter’s Identification Card/Affidavit
SSS Member Registration. To register for a membership to the Social Security System, the local employee must visit the nearest branch of the SSS and submit all the documents required by the state entity.
