SSS Members Who Lost Job May Receive Cash Benefit from Social Insurance Institution

SSS – The Social Security System will give cash benefit for those members who lost their job.

The COVID-19 pandemic has not only dragged economies down, prohibited religious gatherings, suspended classes, and placed plans on hold. It has affected a lot of people’s finances.

Many non-essential businesses had to temporarily close as cooperation to the fight against the coronavirus spread in the country. Community quarantine measures are implemented until now.

Those people working under a no-work-no-pay scheme lose their income everytime they cannot go to work. Sadly, many of these people are breadwinners of the their families.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of people lost their jobs. Many businesses could not handle the losses as they have to stop their operation amid the crisis.

This is the time that most people are in need of financial assistance. One of those responding to the call is the Social Security System.

Based on a report of Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, SSS is set to give a cash benefit for their members who lost their job. Many people are unemployed now and are struggling to keep up with the family’s monthly expenses.

According to SSS Public Affairs and Special Events Division Head Fernando Nicolas, the member must present a certification from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). Also, he or she must submit a certification of his or her savings account.

Based on the report, the releasing of the said cash benefit will be divided in two (2) months. The first half may be received within five (5) days since the approval.
